Hi Folks,I know I have asked this question before about water on the inside of the drivers side headlight and I had some answers telling me to take the bulb out and use a hairdryer,but in the manual it tells you not to remove the bulb(garage only)because of high voltage.when I look at the headlight,you have the indicator bulb then what looks like a small spotlight bulb.is this the one I remove and how do I take it out?can anybody help me out on this one please.  Regards to All

High voltage only relates to the xenon headlamp. Yours being the GLS will only have standard projectors. No worries over voltage issues.

You car could have xenon lamps so be carefull. the xenon lamps have a large ballast pack on the bottom of the light unit.if it has then dont remove the bulbs. uprated xenon and halogen lights were fitted after model year 98/99 due to complaints about poor light output on std lights.

I think the giveaway is that Xenon HID lights came with headlamp washers as standard...

Thanks for the info,but i am still not sure how to take the bulb out assuming it is the one that looks like a small spotlight bulb,is there anybody that can educate me on the procedure.

Assuming its not xenon..

remove triangular panel on top,  pull off black rubber cover off the back of the headlamp unit, disconnect wires,  then I recall there is a clip you have to squeeze and that then hinges back. bulb then comes out freely.

I'm surprised if this isn't covered in the manual/Haynes though..

I tried the hairdryer technique. It worked, but only temporarily. I suppose success is based on the reason why there is water in there in the first place.

After the condensation started to come back, dried out headlight again then I taped a sachet of Silica Gel (the sort you get in packaging for electronic items/bags etc) into one of the rubber bulb covers. Has worked for 6 months now.

Thanks folks for that,I will give it a go,I did think of when I eventually dry it out running a bead of silicon round the headlight unit where the clear lense meets the back of the unit,anybody tried this.?
