Radiator replacement
« on: 15 October 2007, 14:34:50 »

1998 v6 elite...have managed to trace water leak to bottom of coolant radiator just on the seam by the drain plug..now believe only permanent solution is a total radiator replacement...how difficult/easy is this to replace and is there a "how to " or is it pretty much undo and then replace as reverse..any advise would be appreciated

Auto has a transmission  oil cooler built into its rad, a manual doesn't.

You are quite correct, and if the profile had included it was an auto i would have seen that. ::) What is the car mate. man or auto. The rad i have is from a manuel elite.

Its not a bad job to change rad, bit fiddly lifting it out.  You will lose a lot of coolant, and a bit of ATF (so check ATF level after - better still, change it).  You will need 4 new copper washers for the Oil pipes to rad banjos (or reaneal old ones).

It's a fair bit easiler on a manual, without the unions to mess with ;D
