How much? I Only Wanted Six!

Had to change some tyres on SWMBO's Astra and my Omega yesterday. All four on the Astra, she almost put it into a ditch on Thursday, and two on the Omega following an advisory on the MOT in July.

The Omega had been pulling badly to the left and the Astra showed signs of tracking being out so got the garage to look at both.

Total bill for six tyres, geometry setup on the Omega and tracking only done on the Astra, balance, valves and VAT came to a total of £450. Add £30 for lunch whilst we were waiting and I spent almost £500 in Falmouth yesterday.

At least I got free parking.  ;D

I know.  ;) I was just comparing the price of Sir G's 6 tyres against what I paid for just 4 tyres. Mine were Michelin Pilot Premacy 225/55/W16

Sad thing is I could do with another 2 for the back. I had a puncture in one at the edge of the tread  :( and there's not really that much left of the other rear (strangly the middle is worn suggesting over pressure but they've always had 32psi in)

The Astra had some brand called Cameran or something like that. The Omega had TOYO's. Neither brand are familiar to me. Basically, known brands were going to cost double and I doubt that I would get double the life out of them.

We don't do many miles, typically less than 9,000 miles each and not much of that is high speed driving as you can't go very fast on the roads down here anyway.

Still a bit of a hard pill to swallow. I could have got another Omega for not much more than the tyres.  ;D

Only if they're Proxes T1-R or the newer T1-S. Or they do a proper race tyre called R888, not recommended for road use though.

Their other, cheaper, tyres are pretty rubbish though. Don't rely on the brand alone, there is a huge difference with various models of the same brand.

Back in Jan I bought 8 Omega tyres in 1 day, about £800!
