If it is the same as a 2.2 then it is held on by 2 bolts into the sump and the rubber hose at the top connecting it to the cam cover.

Mine has a gasket but I reused it with a bead of sealant as it was in good condition  :y

The gasket on this pipe is metal and only costs pennies - you'll find loads of mayo inside but don't worry it's quite normal.  :y

I've never replaced this gasket, but if it's only pennies then you may as well...

the pipe may take a lot of cleaning!

It's held onto the block (not the sump) by 2 x 13mm bolts.

It is the same, just a little more awkward to get at on a 2.0 ltr.

Follow the instructions for the 2.2 under 'Maintenance Guides'.

AA - I used to have a 4 pot which is what I was referring to.   That pipe always looked like it descended into the depths of hell but I never investigated from underneath.

The pipe is only 15-18" long and fit's on top of the sump.  I reused the old gasket last time as Vx were out of stock and it's never leaked, but I'll change it next time.

More diificult to get at on a 2.0ltr from the top, but not impossible if you've got rubber arms.

its very hard to get out from the top or bottom.

I find its quicker to just remove the exhaust manifold heat sheld and the secondary air injector pipes than messing about bursing and scratching your arms

Now just to clarify for the 2.0ltr crankcase breather pipe.

You can get to it by putting the car on a set of car ramps.
From underneath the car remove the underbelly cover ( if you have one) and undo the two 13mm bolts.
Then remove, (hoping that you have removed the hose from the cam cover), Once you have done this you can clean the breather. Spray carb cleaner down the tube and with a piece of cloth with wire wrapped around, pull the cloth through. If the tube is clogged then you will need to dig the crud out. The refitting is the same as removal but remembering to smear sealant around the bottom of the tube.

Thats how you remove and clean the crankcase breather. This tube is easy accessable from under the car, much quicker than removing the exhaust manifold heat shield and secondry air pipes etc.
