Sell or strip!!!
« on: 28 September 2007, 00:27:10 »

My MV6 has to go  :'(

I can't afford to run 2 cars and I've got to teach 3 kids to drive  ;D

I can put them on the Omega for £2000/year

or

£500 all in, on a 1.1 Fiesta.

running cost will be the same.

Omega is 98 on an R, with 200,000 miles.
This car has done in excess of 100,000 miles on LPG

Work completed;

Both rear wheel bearings
Rear self levelling shocks
Rear heavy duty springs
crank sensor
Passenger side cam cover gasket
cam belt kit (20,000 miles ago)
Dis pack & leads
ABS ECU replaced (with donor)
replaced internal door/column trim from donor car
98 GLS centre console added
gearbox fluid changed (20,000 miles ago)
Oil & filter change (6,000 miles ago)

Issues;

White estate car, Green bonnet
Scrubbing near side tyre inner edge (Alignment)
1 heavily kerbed alloy
crack to nearside corner of windscreen
2 "O" ring seals missing on breather body (Will sort this weekend)
loses approx 1 pint of water/week
rust to 2 door edges + rear door
air con condensor sha**ed
1 Oxy sensor "open circuit"

Other work advisable

Update gearbox software
reprogram ABS ECU
Aux belt showing heavy cracking (not replaced with cambelt  :-/ )

If I think of anything else I will add to the post

Oooooh eck  :o Is it ex-police?

From a young persons point of view I don't think it would be the easiest car to drive/learn in and honestly even though the car has a few problems, the ferocious power might be a bit too much for a learner driver!  ::) I think you should have the alignment sorted also if teaching to drive. Is the windscreen not an MOT failure?

Tis a tricky one but you've obviously spent alot of time/money/patience on the car so only you can make the decision.

....i'd still rate it above a 1.1 bone shaking fiesta though  ;D

It's a mixer.

You will not get much due to the mileage and the condition, it is worth more to you than selling.

You would be better off keeping it and cutting back to TPFT or TPO for it.

I wouldn't want to have to use a Fiesta the gear lever sticks in your leg >:( I had to use one once - horrid!

MOT end Jan 08
Tax end Jan 08

Privately off this site  £700

on here £600, its a bit scruffy, but costs £26 in fuel each week for the equvilant of £60+ of petrol mileage

otherwise I will cut it up.

Posted in here for comments as to its value as a whole or in bits, rather than straight in the "for sale" section

Been wanting one of these since i was 17 (a fair while ago  :-?)

Wasn't really an option with 4 kids,  now 2 have left home and most of my miles are on my lonesome, with a "fester" I will have a cheap 4 seater and can the devote the garage space to my revived "hobbie"
