Keys
« on: 19 April 2008, 18:00:31 »

With my recently purchased Omega were two full remote locking/alarm keys,  but one is u/s and the other requires a replacement outer casing (where you push the buttons).

Vx only supply the batteries (no spares available) and a local specialist wants £100+ to provide and code in a new key.

Any advise please on a)  where I could acquire spare parts for both keys b) if the transponder from another key (ex-scrape car; the chip is in the main metal casing that would be retained) could be programmed in, or c) something else please?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions/advice/info :D

Get a 2nd hand key from e-bay and swap the internals over for the one with the damaged cover.
The other key probably has a broken battery holder which can be repaired if your handy with a soldering iron ;)

Yes, but no remote fobs - you'll have to go to ebay for them

Wasn't someone offering to mend fobs by soldering new micro-switches ??? can't remember who or when .. but it would solve all the re-programming problems ???
