Guys,

I had same problems with my alarm on my 2001 2.2 Meega.

Only solution was to remove power sounder as batteries were hard to get hold of and you have to seal the unit back up well as it sits under a scuttle drain if i remember right.

No probs since!

Looking from the front of the car, the alarm's bonnet switch is usually on the right hand side of the engine bay towards the back. There's a hole in the sound proofing where the plunger hits the underside of the bonnet. That's the alarm switch for the bonnet. Try unpliugging it to start with & see what happens. The bracket often gets bent while working under the bonnet.

Under the scuttle driver's side. A manual won't help you for things like that anyway.

Hi, i had the same problem when i bought my miggy last Dec. Read posts on forum and checked all the usual suspects. I thought i had found the possible problem when i noticed a sensor wire on one of the rear quarter lights on my estate had been knocked off. Reconnected it but problem still persisted. My problem is the power sounder. Unit probally knackered. I have found out that, if you have a trade card, a new one costs either £56 or £137 depending on your chassis number. You will also need the code off the old one when/if you replace it to get the correct one. Your insurance may be invalid if you dissconect it and you are unlucky enough to have your car either broken into or stolen as it is a Thatcham approved factory fitted unit i am led to believe. It does'nt seem a lot to replace for peace of mind or any insurance hassles that may arise.

When my alarm started sounding for no reason it was down to the right hand full beam bulb. There was no fault indication on the screen and I hadn't used full beam to notice it had blown. When I did finally notice, changing the bulb ended the alarm problem. The bulb was fine to look at. No broken filament, no discolouration.

Had the same problem with my 2002 model, after dealer having it for three weeks and telling me alarm never went off I got it back and it went off within 10 minutes! They came back and got the car, replaced the power sounder (£125 fitted) and all was well!  :)
