Bloody Foglights!!!!!!!!!!!!
« on: 20 October 2007, 10:08:23 »

I think that all Omega owners should seriously consider hurting (not really obviously) people that drive around with their fog lights on, just because there was a bit of fog 16 years ago.  >:(

In the last couple of days, I have spend half of my daily commute along the M6 with my lights on full beam to dazzle the idiot in front of me with their rear fog lights on.

So people, if you are an offender, please switch them off when there are other cars around you :y. There's no need and the Highway Code stipulates that. Plus, you never know, the next person that you piss off, might be me - and I'm big and mean  >:( >:( >:(

I had the same problem the other night, no fog around at all.

White van man decided to put his rear fog lights on, then stayed in the middle lane on the M3.

Plonker.

Sorry for repeat thread.....but I had to get it off my chest.

I agree. No need whatsoever. If some knob in an Ivory tower somehwere decrees that they are necessary, why not make them automatic. After all, we have automatic lights, wipers, cruise control...I could go on (and probably will ;))

Those people that are out there that thinks that they are a good idea...I have some news for you...

Vauxhall have at least made a step in the right direcetion & made them relay latched so they automatically switch off when you turn the main lights off. It does prevent people driving around weeks after the last bit of morning mist with 'em still on.

I hate to say this, but Ford are on the ball. On my old Mondeo, the fog lights were part of the rotary light switch. When you pulled the switch out, the fog lights came on. However, when you switched the dipped beam off (rotating the switch) a cam mechanism pulled the switch back in again thus switching off the fog lights.

Genius.

It also says that you should turn them off when in traffic.  ;)

I drove there for the first time ever a month or so back, I found most of the bad arrogant driving was by those in a black car, advertising down the side & with an orange light on top! (No inference (sp?) to anyone one here! ::) )

Agreed. Rear fog lights are the most stupid thing to fit to a car. All they do is mask the brake lights so you can no longer tell whether the cars ahead are braking or not. What the hell is wrong with just slowing down in poor visibility? I think the numpties who came up with the idea forgot about the fact that trees, central reservations and random debris don't have any lights to illuminate them in fog, let alone high intensity ones. All they do is create a false sense of security because you can see other cars further away, and people end up driving faster and following the lights of the car ahead!

Oh and don't get me started on front fog lights, they should be renamed to "chav warning lights" to alert other drivers to the presence of a retard behind the wheel who is liable to perform erratic lane changes at any time, and has a complete inability to indicate. A bit like how the yellow flashing light warns of slow moving vehicles ;D
