Repairing / Replacing Variable Wiper Stalk
« on: 14 May 2008, 09:41:08 »

I've removed the wiper stalk from my GLS cause the wiper wouldn't stop going (they've stopped now...).

I now need to source another one of these wiper stalks, but i'd rather try and repair this one has anyone ever opened one of these up and tried it?

Thanks

Good luck!

Least you have nothing to lose if it is broken anyway.

There are often some on ebay etc, as people retro fit them to vectra's (along with a relay) to get the same functionality.

Yeah I've seen a few on ebay, but most have the buttons for a multi-function display on the end of the stalk - my GLS doesn't have the trip computer.

Would these wiper stalks still work on mine?

Thanks

The stalks are interchangeable it won't matter if it has the buttons for the MID.

well i've just taken the wiper stalk apart and traced the connections. Then using a multi-meter tested all the connections, and unfortunately it works fine....

... leads me to my next port of call which is checking the wiper motor stop check pin which has probably snapped and failing to report this to stop the wipers.

I'd replace it mate, for the amount of money it's worth it.  £5 from shanjon seems very reasonable!
