Hi,
It has been quite warm today, and Air Con has been on full cooling and car interior quite cool.
However, although the cooling pipes to and from the evaporator are really really cold, air delivery from vents is only 10 deg C and I am sure air delivery used to be colder on my old Senator and Safrane.
I checked the hot water pipes to and from the heater, and thay were very hot. Although the air control flaps from the heater section are obviously shut, there must be some radiated heat from that area in the climate control system that must be adding to the overall cooling load. Under the operating conditions today I would have expected them to be cold, as surely the point of the HBV is to turn off the hot water when not needed.
I know that on the Senator and Safrane hot water circulated continually through the heater, but what is the point of a HBV then if it doesn't by pass the heater.
I know the Climate control controls the HBV, but I can't see how. I can't see any vac pipes connected to it unlike you can on the the older Climate control systems.
Any observations on how the HBV is operated on 2002 Omega's are welcome.
Roger
