actually I found a small set of mole (vice?) grips useful given the restricted room in there.

The HBV is completely the opposite side to the exhaust manifold though, so I'm unsure how it would travel from there onto the exhaust stud.
I think it's something else.

Blimey, it was page 2 before someone realised it was the other side of the engine...
I can't see any pipework on the manifold side of the engine that could leak unless theres something tucked up under the scuttle.
I'll take a photo and attach it shortly...

I plead stupidity... I didn't look at the engine size!! Mine's a v6 so that was what I was comparing it to!!
