Its a 1999 pre facelift on a Vplate bud. What do you have in mind?

Yep...codes are:

0340
0335
0351
0352

So..will look for a cam sensor tomorrow.   what..about £30 ??? :question

Don't know the price but they're fairly inexpensive - £30 should be about right.  Make sure you buy a genuine vauxhall sensor or you may end up needing to buy another.

The Paperclip test...  I should have the link on copy and paste, but don't!  You'll find it in either Tenchical or the FAQ sections - takes 2 minutes (1 min 30 secs to find a paperclip)...

It will first flash a sequence, for example - 3 flashes in quick succession then a pause and another 7 flashes.  That would mean your fault code is 37.

Keith - first time, it looks like random, but for each set of flashes, there's a space which takes the same timespan as a flash, i.e.

flash gap flash flash gap flash gap flash flash gap flash gap flash flash gap

is "12" three times..it should do this at the start of the sequence.

If you lose track, just turn off the ignition, back on and then start again.  Even if you just post how many groups of flashes there are (i.e. 2 1 2 1 3 1 1 2) then we will probably be able to decipher it!

Was gonna ring a couple of motor factors locally, or try and get my friendly neighbourhood garage to order me one.

Only fit a genuine Vx cam sensor, or your problems will re-occur.

I have the same problem on my 2.2 lit petrol, although it doesn't occur very frequently (yet) and only for a short period of time. This mostly happpens in hot weather.

Cam sensor the best guess here? Is it placed the same as on 2.0 lit?

Thanks!

Ok, just phoned a local motor factors....and they have qouted me £38 + vat.

Problem is that they say there are two types listed (both virtualy same price).  Does anybody know the part number (to sae me stripping it back off the car and putting it back on so I can go drive to the factors).

Car is W (2000) 2.0l GLS Auto.  I am pretty certain when I took it off for cleaning yesterday it was a Siemens model?....(pretty certain butnot 100% :-/
