Diag Port not responing - any idea's
« on: 05 August 2008, 15:25:58 »

hi, have a omega 2001 2.2dti with the y22dth engine, engine light comes on at very low speed and turbo cuts out, then after 1-2 minutes the light goes off - when you pick up speed and the turbo kicks back in. Purchased a odbII - did not talk to car, so returned. Gave in and took it to VX today - asked them to change the fuel filter while they tested tech2. .. Tech2 would not talk to car at all ... The only thing that's been changed is added Cruise Controll stalk about 6months ago (would that matter?).

Getting the car back later - any one seen this problem before with the diag port?

Did not want to pay for an hours VX labour - is it  worth cleaning the Cam sensor?

Any way to check air sensor's ?

regards

Hi Ya.
I have seen diagnostic sockets that have been damaged due to tech's probing with the wrong tools, you could have a look at the socket and check to see if pins are inplace and in good order.
Another thought is the battery, what voltage is shown when you put a multimeter across it 12.5 is ok 12.75 good. (engine off) latest cars wont test below 12.5v.
Clean air sensor's with carb cleaner, just dont have engine running,I also use it for cleaning breathers.......Dirty air sensor use to turn on the auto choke on Fiesta's !
Cheers

Yeah, see it a bit, the Vx OBDII connectors aren't great - rarely see trouble on other cars....

I work in Redditch most of the week so if you are able to get to Hopwood Services one evening around 6pm I could give the Autoscanner a try.

Not sure about the ecu.... But I've fixed a few 2.0dti vectra engines (pritty much the same as the 2.2dti) with cracked vacuum pipes which use to kill the turbo and put the EML light on!

Maybe worth checking them. On the vecs, the common place was on some rubber elbows that were fitted on the end of solenoid valves.

LMF are utter rubbish - dont buy steering idlers from them! You've been warned![/size]

Hi that would be great, any day next week. Which will give me the weekend to have look at the diag port to see if there is any thing I could do saving you a wasted journey.
