Power sounder disconnection
« on: 28 August 2008, 19:49:55 »

Hi, thought i would finally get round to disconnecting my power sounder today. Usual problem, keeps going off. I took the skuttle screw out and lifted up the skuttle to see what was what and saw this plug connector ( see pics ) and the horn next to the power sounder. Am i right in thinking that this connector is for the power sounder and that if i disconnect both connector and horn my power sounder will be silenced? Thanx.

Yep, the power sounder is the black box next to the alarm horn unit....the other connector you show is for the kick down switch!

Oooops.. better not disconnect that then ;D. Suppose just unplugging the horn connector will do the trick then. thanx. :y

No it wont, you need to unplug the power sounder which is next to the horn (to the right of it).

What are the symptoms?

Usual problem. power sounder going off intermitantly at night, going on 30 mile round trip only for power sounder to give 3 beeps when i switch off. Been using the "cheat" method of locking car by pressing down drivers door button whilst rear door open and closing rear door just to get a nights sleep and keep the neighbours happy. I will remove skuttle tomorrow and unplug sounder connector. Thanx. :y

Oh by the way, hope i am right in thinking that i can still alarm car with power sounder unit disconnected? I was told that the power sounder is only a back up in case someone tries to disconnect the  battery in an attempt to break in / steal car.
