Hi guys,
just to complete this thread: I ve been to the Vauxhall retailer this morning and oredred the plates and other parts for the link check. Not that it is quite embarrasing for Vauxhall to have this issue with a car of that range, the repair kits cost 20 GBP each PLUS VAT!  >:(
But as I do not have the right tools there is no way arround the genuine parts.
So will mount them hopefully next weekend.

Regards

What's he quoting you for. Even if you were to do the full welded in repair panel at the front of the door, it's only a couple of quid, & the reinforcing plates that are usually used on their own to 'repair' the door are pennies.

@andy b: Can genuine Vauxhall retailer quote their own prices as they want??? I just popped in and told the guy that I would like to have two repair kits for the link checks of my front doors of the Omega. He took my reg and there we went.......
As I understood there is only one type of repair kit available

@marks DTM Calib: Are they ready to be mounted or are you doing the drilling, etc. yourself?

The item you have asked for information on is called a 'door check strap' no need to keep calling it a 'link check' !!!!!

Just thought. He's probably ordered the actual check strap. It's likely that yours is OK, it's the metal around the fixing points of the strap on yours that's ripped. You only need the repair plates.

@Richard A: Sorry, that was what was mentioned in the part catalogue. But will bare in mind. Thanks.

@Andy B: I told him that I need the repair plates for the torn out door check strap and to avoid this happening on the passenger site I ordered two. I also asked for the plastic bushes but on the computer for my W reg Omega there were no plastic bushes shown in the pictures.
I will give them a call today and try to ensure that they have ordered the correct parts.

@all: Again: Thanks for your help! Much appreciated

There we go! That chap has ordered the check straps rather than the reinforcement plates. But I called in time, would have nbeen ordered at 3pm today!  ;)
Funny: Nobody knew what I was talking of, just gave him the part No and now we should be on track!

FWIW the part number for the bushes (white plastic) is 90462823.   Just bought 4 of them (c 20p each). everyone should change these IMHO.

The plates are 9195961 , about a pound each. (2 per door)

Many dealers don't know about these I think because they are part of a service kit rather than the original vehicle.

@Big Al: That was exactly my first thought too! Unfortunately I have to admit the answer is: YES. And better do it before the inner mounting is messed up like it has happened with my drivers door!

Check the link Andy B has posted, this gives you exact what you want!

That is the current price.  :y  Gone up a bit with inflation as this thread is over 4 years old. Still relative and worth doing though as it gets rid of that horrible cracking noise when you open the door.  :y
