Sky+

The aerial on my roof has blown over. I have sky but use the aerial to watch freeview/terrestrial when recording from sky. I have been quoted £100 for new aerial/mast. To upgrade to sky+ is £99.

Finally, the point.

With sky+, can I watch one channel whilst recording another? Can I then transfer that recording to my DVD recorder?

Cheers.

Not played with one myself but you may well find the output - for some programmes if not all - is protected with macrovision or something on playback meaning you can't make a 2nd generation copy of it.

They'll need to put another downlead in from the dish too, IIRC.

No prob even I can outrun your zimmer frame. ;D
Seriously though £100 sounds a bit steep for a new aerial.
Had ours replaced last year and it was about £45 IIRC.

It's not just the aerial, it's going to be a new mast/brackets, the lot. £100 aint bad. :-/

LOL, I've considered sky+ but I think Murdoch gets enough cash from me without paying the extra for
+. Built the freeview media centre so I can record loads of stuff without paying anything.

With the V+ box from Virgin you can record two programs whilst watching a third. In essence, 3 tuners. :y

Eh, actually you can't. Not with Sky+ ::)

With Sky+ there are only two feeds from the LNB, meaning you can record ONE Sat channel while watching a second. ie, record Sky sports whilst watching Sky movies.

Only with Virgin cable and their V+ box you can record TWO channels whilst watching a third. ie, record Sky sports and Sky movies whilst watching Setanta sports.

I know, cos i have both systems.  ::)
