Anyone heard of this outfit.? I stumbled upon their site by chance. Omega servicing seems very cheap!

Looks like it would just be going to a local independent.

You're far better cutting out the middle man, find someone local you can trust with your car, who knows what they are doing, and stick with them.

On the later engine,  If you have my "special tool" you can also change the oil filter from above, should you so desire

When you look at what they actually do - service A is basically an oil change and a hoover (plus check a load of items, and no doubt charge you extra for the things they decide to do), sevice B adds spark plugs and air filter. No mention of a cam belt change and they charge you another fiver for oil disposal.

I think DIY is always the best route, or filing that find a local independant who can be trusted.

Worryingly, people might get a "b" service done, assuming it covers everything that needs to be done on a major service and they'll never get a cambelt change

Blimey, how much does a can of oil and filter cost ?, not a lot. If you plan your service intervals to be in the warmer months, its not that bad. Why don't we....  Organise two meets during the year, and organise to service everyone's car then. That way we could buy the consumables in bulk (Good price ?), and if we were organised we could maybe source a garage with pit or ramp cheap. I'm sure we could change filters and oil quite fast, a production line. Someone like Mark Dtm keeping a watchful eye over the workforce, and TB standing by with helicoils for the stripped drain plugs !.

That's OK. You're a V6 expert now as well, so you won't be lumbered with anything.

Unless... 2.5TD timing chain, anyone?  

I did have it in mind to have one at my parents place near Reading in the summer. Plenty of space there. Was waiting for them to go on holiday and they went away at the same time as I did

Edited to say: I'll drop some hints at the weekend that they need a break...

Just a thought, I am interested in Robotics and have a couple of Microbot Alpha's. If they had a bit more torque, we could program them to go under the car and remove/replace the drain plug ( and helicoil if required !), plus move the drain tub out of the way. Problem occurs if you get it wrong, eg the oil is flowing one way, but you/the robot move the drain tray the other way!.  Oil makes a hell of a mess, in case you hadn't noticed!.
