Thanks for explaining. As the boy kindly informed it is unlikely it will read the srs which is a shame.

My friend has told me he knows someone in Slough who might be able to help.

Doesnt even connect to the mini facelift...cant recognise the protocol I guess??

GS500 is OBDII/EOBD ... mini face lift/pre-facelift are OBD1 I believe .. :(

Cheap tech2 seems to be best cheap (sub £50) one for prefacelifts.

I took the car to the local stealers and here's the update:

Fault Code 31 - Airbag squib high resistance .
This is the wording from their invoice:

Investigate Air Bag Light on
Check Resistance - 3.8 ohms - Remove steering covers and airbag - all plugged in ok. Disconnected squib and reconnected - checked resistence: low.
Fit new squib and delte code. Checked all ok.
Part replaced V0009152056 Contact Unit Airbag

Total cost £182.74 Nasty
