v6 manifold gaskets
« on: 21 November 2008, 10:44:28 »

On the hunt for a set of manifold gaskets and spotted a set on fleabay made by Elring, can anyone tell me if these are any good? my nearest dealer will have to order me a set and it will take nearly a week including the weekend which is too long.

thanks

If you link to what you have seen, you will probably get a more definitive answer.
I got mine in 24h from the dealer.
I was told they must be of the multilayer metal type.
Its certainly a bugger of a job, so not one you would want to risk redoing for the sake of a few days blowing.
Guessing postage to stornaway isnt going to be very quick whichever option you take?

markey mark

Just recieved this reply after asking if they were the same as genuine vauxhall ones:

"Hi Steve,

Thanks for your enquiry.

No - this is NOT a GM packed part. However, it's manufactured by the same supplier and in their packaging (hologram marked).

Thanks
www.Vaux-World.com "

so do I go for this then? or is it sales patter?

thanks  :y

Just been up to my local garage thats going to do the gasket, (yes Im too lazy to do it myself) they said max it will cost is £80 to strip and fit, they confirmed after looking at the car that all the studs are there so hopefully they will come out ok since it was only 2 years ago they were last off.

booked me in for wednesday, so whatever gaskets I get they will need to be sent special delivery to be here for monday/tuesday at latest.
