that is a doughnut horizontal tank designed to fit in the spare wheel well of an estate car.single hole doughnut tanks work perfectly well in a 3 litre omega.
Right, back on the phone to Jeromy then. Did make it clear i have a saloon on more than one occassion.
Maybe a mix up with his supplier.

That's what was bothering me!

In his defence, he may not have realised the spare is mounted vertically in the Miggy. Have you managed to get hold of him yet?

Yes, spoke to him earlier, seems to be a bit of a mix up. Awaiting a ring back.

right, im getting a bit concerned about this now.
Its been over a month since the error with the estate donut tank and ive had nothing but silence, from Jeromy at Motogas, since i last chased him up for a saloon upright tank. He said they are difficult to get hold of! Is this likely?

I told the guy 3 times before ordering it was a saloon  and he never batted an eyelid. Now all of a sudden they cant get them. It gives the impression theyre not interested in sorting it out tbh. Or am i missing something?

Hi Chris,

I can't believe they are having that much difficulty... Sounds like Jeromy has done his usual ::) ::) He did the same when there was a mix up with collecting my kit and left me waiting outside the place. Luckily Teilo just went off and sorted it, which is why he is the person I recommend dealing with! I'll try and get it sorted :y :y

I've left a message for Teilo to call me about some other stuff too so I'll get him on the case and give him your number. The only difference I know of is that vertical tanks normally have a multivalve and are more expensive, but there's no reason why he can't keep you updated. I know I could get one within the week from another (much more expensive) supplier!

Sorry you've had such a problem but I'm sure it'll be sorted fairly quickly once Teilo is on the case :y :y

Thanks for getting involved, much appreciated. Ive just got off the phone to Jeromy and if says hes asked Tailo to ring me. So must be " Tailos" fault then, yeah right. Anyway, its no real problem as ive done bog all with the kit yet. Just some communication would be nice from them. I did try to speak to Tailo from the outset but they kept passing me on to Jeromy. Gues they are busy.
Thanks for input though.
Cheers.

He'll sort it for you :y :y :y

One bit of advice I'd give you re the kit is to get the loom out in the lounge or somewhere and mark all the wires for where they need connecting... It makes it so much easier to fit :y :y

not sure whats going on here, just got home from work to find the neighbours have a box and bloody enormous donut tank, bigger than the other estate version but less capacity. Its covered in dust and footprints i think, has a bloody great dent in the side which has cracked the paint and cant now be structurally sound, the cert. says it was made in 04 and is guaranteed for 18 months if its sold within 2 years of when it was made, which it is not by 2 years, so no warranty. Oh and its a single hole as far ar i can tell, 2 inch diameter hole in the middle of the donut? Apart from that its perfect.

I did speak to Jeromy last week and he said the tank should be with them by thursday last and he would ring to arrange delivery then. That was the last i heard from them.

I would send it back. they are supposed to be removed and pressure tested at 10 years IIRC. Not that anyone bothers, but that's a significant proportion of its' "life"gone, a dent implies that the courier have bounced it against something hard, and it's not a 4 hole one anyway.  >:(

IIRC, all components I was supplied for my conversion, were dated within a couple of months of when I received them.

If the dent has deformed any part of the welding then don't use it.

I suspect it's either been thrown or dropped off a lorry during unloading.

I had problems getting a dent free tank a few years ago. It took three goes in the end.

Most tanks are just wrapped in a thin cardboard box and are not marked as fragile, which seems to be an open invitation for some t*sser couriers to damage them as they see fit. Polystyrene pads in the box would prevent most damage, but nobody seems to care.

Tanks can and do rot from the inside due to water and acid contaminants in the fuel, hence the nominal 10 year service life.

I've recently replaced an 8 year old underslung tank that was dangerously thin at the bottom due to being scraped on the ground and not repainted in the past.

FWIW a 64 litre vertical Stako tank fits very snugly into the Omega saloon's spare wheel compartment. A bit of ingenuity is needed to route the vent pipes through the side panel where they will be covered by the bumper, but the end result is worth it. You'll get 200+ miles range and won't lose much boot space.

FES Autogas can supply these tanks.

I'm not 100% sure but I don't think they do a 4-hole vertical torroidal tank at the moment :-? :-? :-/ :-/

Definitely get on the phone to them though as it does sound like the courier has damaged it. I was under the impression from Teilo that they were waiting on a foreign supplier to ship some new ones so they may not know the condition of this tank... It's probably been drop-shipped from his supplier.

My tank was shipped from a third party. Can't remember who now, but it didn't arrive through Teilo. It was also just in a cardboard box with a plastic net over it. I remember thinking it could easily have got damaged.  :(
