Thanks for the quick replies guys!
The car is going for an MOT tomorrow morning. I'm then off to see it.
Can someone give me a "not looking through rose tinted glasses" opinion on the Omega. I love big four door saloons, currently driving a Rover 800. I get the feeling that the car is better built and the CDX has enough toys to satisfy me?

The Omega is a better car than Rover 800. When I bought mine, it was a toss up between an Omega and a Rover 800 Sterling. The Omega is better all round - better handling, better engine, better ride, and a CDX is significantly better spec than the Sterling (top of range). Build quality significantly better as well.
Omega needs 40k/4yr cambelt AND tensioners. Around 100k, play in front wishbone bushes will be past their best (change entire wishbone, cheap from ebay).
Cam cover gasket failure is checked by pulling all plug leads and look for oil in the wells.
Seat heaters are pretty unreliable, esp leather ones.
When checking tyres, look for (common) inside shoulder wear. This needs a full geometry check (and not tracking as seller will try to say).
