TC Button not working...any ideas
« on: 05 February 2009, 15:58:10 »

My traction control button next to the gear stick is not working...if you press nothing appears on the dash to indicate TC is engaged.
On my previous 99 V6 omega, when i press the TC button it used to illuminate on the dashboard.
Also. if i did hit a slippery part of the road surface and the tires skid..the TC light used to illuminate briefly on the dashboard.

I have hit so many slippery surfaces with the current snow..nothing doing. Its not the end of the world, but i would like the feature working.
Any help will be appreciated.

I thought the light came on permanently in the dash if the TC was disengaged?

It's not next to the gearstick, it'll be on the dash :y

Correct, if the light is off your TC is on :y If you hit the TC button the light will stay on all the time it's switched off.

You're not confusing the 'snow mode' button with the TC are you Kumamoto?

The snow mode doesn't light up in the dash, the actual button lights up for that...

no personal experience with this but afaik
tc abs and speedo all run off the same ecu. So if other functions are ok, maybe its on the way out, or the bulb has gone in the dash? Tc is fairly crude and can be a bit slow cutting in and out, as you sure its not working? See what others say to confirm this though...

The TC dash light comes on with ignition and goes off when engine is running...TC is then on

When you hit a slippery patch and wheels loose grip the dash light will illuminate and then go off

If you press TC switch on then you disengage TC and the dash light stays on continuesly.

Only the v6 has TC.  The 4 cylinders (petrol or diesel) and the 6 cylinder diesel don't have/need it :)
