Tc ?abs
« on: 17 February 2009, 20:35:17 »

Hi guys , Can anyone tell me if the traction control uses the abs sensors? Both lights have started coming on intermittently and I suspect the abs light is a dirty or faulty sensor.Hoping its also the reason for the tc light. :-?

Whats your speedo doing ??? and maybe the power steering ??? Not saying it is this .. just saying it could be the begining....

http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1152729807

If it is ... then 3 choices

Vx - £300-600
bba-reman (or other electronic repairer) £100-200
Scrappy - £50-£80 - but make sure you get the right one ...

DIY it is an absolute sod to do .. not technically hard .. bloody awkward !!!

No problems at all with speedo or power steering. I'll try the sensors first. If that doesn't work I'll try to source a good used ecu. Thanks for the tips. :'(

a decent code reader may help before blowing cash on repairing ecu, but post 1998 are problematic

you will be very lucky if its a dirty sensor and not the abs ecu

I had a bad earth on one of the rear light clusters and it caused abs/tc lights to come on sometimes. Cleaned all the contacts and it has been fine for the last 3 years

ABS / TC  lamp on, Speedo working
front wheel speed sensors are prime culprit,so clean the crud off the back plate of the brake disc ................with a power wash while cleaning the car.

good luck m8

it will mostlikly the ECU , I have had same troble this week iv got the caved up finggers and brused knuckels to prove it.
just waiting for the corurer from BBA reman to pick it up

For the help of others trying to get one out I found a bit of an easyer way
than in guide

if theres a couple of you

follow the guide as normal bat, fuse box, wiring, top coolent hose and pas resvour removed

now undo the two nuts eather side of the abs hydrolic unit
theres a plate over the one on the enging side, bend that back a bit to clear bolt

watch you dont lose the bolts/ studs the just push in the side of the unit in rubber bungs

now you can lift the whole abs pump up with ECU still attached
just unclip the 3 break lines from the plastic clip on bulkhead

now you can lift the whole  unit the pipes are quit flexable

the flex a lot more than you would think with out damage
but dont go to mad bending them

now one of you can lift pump and other one can undo bolts
and it comes out far easyer doing like this.

and even more inportaintly it will be easyer to refit the 6 t20 bolts this way

as I was able to basicly life pump up enoutgh for you to unscrew all six bolts with ease.
