Couple of snaps for those that haven't done it before....


Take car for a spin, get everything warm.
Put into park, engage handbrake and chock nearside wheels
Jack up drivers side
Locate gearbox sump. It's towards the front.

Looks like this


Remove bolt, mine was mega tight so make sure to use a good quality 13mm socket and WD40 if need be.


Fill with Dextron 3 oil whilst jacked up and engine still running. Bloody awkward but can be done.


When you get it dribbling out like this.


You need to let it drain whilst the car is level.
Put somthing underneath to collect draining oil.
Lower car to level
Once its drained jack the car back up and refit the bolt and (new) washer.

It's vital to have the engine running throughout.

and exactly the same as the copper washer if you have this type for the normal oil sump

Thanks for the photos - just AFTER i'd done mine.  

I can certainly attest to the fact that the engine needs to be running, otherwise when you first take the level plug off you'll dump about a litre of ATF on the driveway... It needed a lot more filling up after that.

Unless, of course, you have a helicoiled sump and a pug sump plug with their weird sealing washer.  Or a post 97 car with the rubber seal on the sump

Rubber seal on the sump plug, but I need to have the dimensions for the washer, we have them at work in several sizes and dealer is 20 miles away so it's of no use...

so, if anyone has any idea of measures, it's welcome...

Yes it would appear.....

one part number has slightly different (ok, well rounded) measurements depending where you look at the info in epc
