Flashing.
« on: 27 March 2009, 13:06:51 »

Is it bad?

If the dipped beam (HID) is already on, the flash would only engage the normal type bulb full beam.

But if the lights are off and I flash, do both the Dipped HID and standard lamp full beam both come on?

If so, does this damage a HID system? DOn't know much about them but i Think it's the initial switch on that uses the most power??

Flash ONLY works on main beam, the HID will not fire fast enough, if you watch a HID on switch on it takes about 3-5 seconds to reach full intensity. Also, the more a HID is turned on/off the shorter the life of the bulb, so not a good idea to use as a "flash" unit ...  :)

Interesting, what is the story with new cars which have BI-Xenon headlights, I'm guessing the HID is always charged ready for use? Or am I completely wrong  ::)
