sat here waiting for a lift as AGAIN the car wont start (wont fire)
my last post on this matter was over 2 weeks ago since then it has started everyday at least 10 times a day and covered around 750 miles runs great when its running have been tols its the crank sensor.
So for one last time before i spend £70/£80 on one is it normal for the crank sensor to behave like this starts ok then wont start then starts for 2 whole weeks then suddenly this morning wont start again
I am just amazed that a sensor could act this way

Well, you had the warning signs and didn't act......lets hope you dont ever have a mild heart attack   (joke!)

Read the fault codes and then get it sorted, the senors can be got for sub 50 quid and fitting is easy.

They can be intermittent. The common failure is the wire breaking down which can cuase intermitent working (which should be no surprise!), sometimes they do simply die.

Other possibles are failing sensors which get weak signals, these can cause poorer starting which takes more cranking as a first sign of it going.

It can operate with a failing sensor - ie not every rev found, but bad starting is the clue - I bought mine from an Ebay seller - just as a post strike started

Dont be soft, just fit a genuine vx sensor. I say genuine as £80 is far too much so presume you paid over the odds for a copy, or does that include fitting or something, its a 5 minute job . When and where did you get it and who fitted it?

i aint got one yet but around £70/£80 was quoted to me to buy and fit.
Is there a guide on here anywhere

 :)Yep thats the very same symptoms I had, failed to start, then would after about 30 mins, then would be ok for a week or so then failed to start again! Mine was the Crank Sensor as correctly told on here, cost me £142 at a garage cos it was during the winter I really couldn't be a@@ed to get under there myself, done an oil change last week and saw where it is and looks real easy to change tho!!
