fitting 3.0 cams

when installing these is there anything else i will need to do the job? :-/ (got all tooling)

Cam cover gaskets
Green Sealent for front cam bearing cap
Black sealent for cam covers
Camshaft oil seals (may be possible to re-use but at least have a couple handy in case they are damaged during removal / installation.

May as well change cam belt and tensioners if it's getting close to "that time".

That should just about do it IIRC.

the reason I'm changing the cams is i need to do the cover gaskets so i thought while I'm there i may as well :y

whats the difference between the to sealants and whats the damage to buy it?

how much for cam oil seals?

belt and tensioners arnt that old so im ok there :y

just been to vx dealer in hull mate.
doing mine tomorrow  :y
pack of 2 cam cover seals part number 90511451 £26.33 + vat
tube of sealing compound ( green ) * 90542114   £5.45 + vat
asked and they told me the sealant is just green nowdays but it seems a bit runny  to me  :-/
opinions anyone ?

They are talking out their backsides...black sealant for cam covers IS needed or you will be doing the job again very soon

The two sealants are very different too. One is a thin sealant for sealing metal flanges. The other is a RTV style.

If your doing your Cam Covers aswell as your Gaskets & Sealant you will need "O" rings too 16 of them :y

Yep, you need the O rings.

I suspect a VERY thin wipe of the black sealent would suffice on the front cam bearings to save the cost of both sealents.

Dont forget the cam cover bolt O rings (16 in total)

The 3.0 lower inlte manifold bridge piece is also less restrictive then the 2.5 one.

Obviously cam cloking kit is needed.

Re-use the cam bearings seals, never had an issue in ALL the ones I have done and the after market seals are crap and leak
