Breathers
« on: 14 April 2009, 11:32:34 »

Hi Folks,

I'm going to have a crack at cleaning out the breathers today.

I've had a look at the maintenance guide, which is very useful.  But, I can't see how you'd get access to the breather box - is it something I'd need to take the scuttle off to get to?

Also, I don't have any carb cleaner - would WD40 do the job??

Cheers  :y

You need carb cleaner -  WD40 is a water dispersant, not a cleaner.

It is possible just removing the plenum, although can be a bit fiddly getting the hoses and clips on and off.

If you're feeling brave (and doing the cam cover gaskets at the same time!) removing the driver side cam cover makes it a lot easier to get to.

Removing the large breather pipe that splits into two at the plenum breather box can be a pig if the cam cover and assorted other gubbins is in the way. :y
