Coolant Level
« on: 27 April 2009, 08:22:22 »

Hi all,
Dunno if anyone can help, on Saturday morning I had a Coolant Level warning appear on my display, with the CHECK indication illuminated, I have checked the level and although slightly down I topped it up, the warning indication and check alert are still present, any ideas if there is a reset required or is there another hidden problem i need to watch out for.
Any advice would be much appreciated.

Neil. :)

If ther level is fine, then the sensor is knackered.

Its the float just inside the tank, give it a jab or 2 in case it just needs freeing.

cleaning doesnt seem to work, so its new header tank, at about £35 ish

round float, about the size of a 50p or so, just under the filler cap - submerged in coolant

In the coolant tank - the float sticks on its shaft, make sure it moves up and down freely

Also, as the coolant heats, if the bottle is a bit manky, that also causes it to stick.

Sadly, all this will only be a temp fix, the solution 9 times out of 10 is a new bottle
