Ok so what fuel do you use and why
« on: 21 November 2007, 11:20:17 »

In all my BMW's i preffered to use V power and BP Ultimate, the engines drove and generally felt better, and in most of them prevented the engine from pinking, so only owning my Elite for a few weeks, what fuel do you use and any improvements using super fuels.

Will move this to gen chat as its more of a discussion type thing than a technical 'problem'.

Me too. Little point in using anything exotic unless your engine is turbocharged or high compression. I do tend to avoid supermarkets since February (there's a Shell station near me that's just as cheap).

Normally use Shell's ordinary stuff.
If I know I will be doing some energetic driving, may treat it to Vpower, but dont find it makes much difference, car a little more responsive, economical and smoother, but not a lot.

Saying that I have used tesco's 99ron purely due to 5p off vouchers, but the car doesnt feel the same at all on tescos 95 so wont use that.

As for why....I pass a shell garage every day, no other!
If I go the 'long' way round, then I pass Tesco's

Oh how we've changed. I remember a thread about this very subject not too long ago, and we were all Shell V power people then. :D

I still use V Power or super unleaded of some form in the Westfield because it needs it, and it makes a difference (it doesn't pink, for a start). I just don't believe in paying for something you don't need when petrol is as expensive as it is.

Actually, having a car that needs super is an eye opener. Most supermarket super I find is no better than a decent 95 RON. Super from the "big name" garages is another matter.

The Corsa I'd only run Vpower, as it would run like a drunken husky with regular...

Omega I'm just running regular Shell unleaded.  I did fill it full with Vpower though a few weeks back when they were doing the promo or Vpower for the price of regular - didn't notice that much difference tbh!

I never use supermarket/cheap brands though...  I noticed (in my old omega) that running Tesco/Asda fuel it didn't feel as pokey, and returned ghastly MPG compared to main brand stuff from shell.

in the omega i mostly use 95, have used 98 a few times and cant say i notice much diffrence, unlike my rallye where the diffrence is night and day!

also i try to stay away from supermarket fuel. I tend to use shell, but thats because theres one at the bottom of my street.

I have to travel 3 miles to get to my nearest one since some dodgy french fuel outlet took over my local one  >:(
