fault codes
« on: 20 May 2009, 11:40:31 »

Hi everybody, after I had problems with the regulator of the dynamo, I had to replace several bulbs in the instrument panel, burned out, due to over voltage. (this might, or might not, have anything to do with this problem.)
Another thing I notice is that if I switch to petrol my engine light comes on and the paperclip gives me the codes: 0201-0202-0203-0204 than 0340 the last one i understand, the others say something about the injector valves being high, lo, or open circuit.
apart from the fact thatI really dont know where to look, how can I check which of the three it is and how to check it.
funny thing, the car drives like a dream and even the engine light switches sometimes off as it should.yesterday for instance, in the morning it was on all the time (in petrol mode) and would only switch off when I switched back to LPG.
A short time later however,it would switch on only momentairely at changeover -petrol/LPG- or back, and stay off, which is as it should.
Today again,  in petrol mode it's on all the time, but the car drives smoothly.
The car is a 1998 Opel Omega , motor x20xev and has a Koltec Egi installed.
Can anybody enlighten me, I would be ever so gratefull !!

Your 0201/2/3/4 is Injector Valve volts high/low. The 0340 is Cam sensor incorrect signal. Could be linked to the high voltage but not 100% sure. Now, at least, you know what the codes mean :y

I would take the car to who ever fitted the gas system and get them to check it over fully.
The 5 codes I think have a common source.
As for the Alternator going open dont worry all ECU's are tested withstand much higher voltages than any car alternator can produce.

Thanks for the reply, the first codes, 0201 to 0204 , I think so too, must have a common cause, but what I would like to know, is there anything I can measure and what and where?, also, the engine bulb only lights in petrol mode,( not always but most of the time ) so I'm not sure if the gas installation has anything to do with it. As for the last code 0340, is that not because the engine not running while reading the ECU ?
Going back to the installer would mean Opel, I think the car came with it from the showroom.at least thats what I make from the papers that came with the car.
regards and greetings.

I suspect the gas installer has re-mapped the ECU for gas running. rather than fitting the seperate ecu for the gas system.
This is not a problem but will make your car run in restricted performance mode when you operate the car on normal petrol.

This means you can only start your car on petrol and let it switch to gas and all will be well.

I assume this from what you have posted, but I have seen this type of low cost gas install and it always causes this type of problem.
