Radiator fan??
« on: 03 March 2009, 17:10:57 »

Not sure if this is a dumb question as i dont have the greatest knowledge of Omegas YET. The radiator fan(largest one) starts working as soon as engine is running and seems to be on all the time.

Is this correct or is there some kind of problem?

The fans will run all the time if you've got air-con switched on.

Air con not on....

Temp gauge when warm always within normal(normally just above 90).I will add that it takes a good 10 minutes to get to this temperature(which im not sure is normal???).Just noticed today that fan is always whirring.

Engine

Yes it will have an impact on the fuel ecconomy, but dont disconnect it as you may need the fan in traffic.

Immediately after starting you can hear the whirring of the fan.I have lifted the bonnet on a number of occasions right after starting and it is working.
Motor takes a good 10 minutes driving to get up to running temp. which i think is a bit slow.
Could anyone tell me where these components that need to be checked are located please?

Is the first plan of action to replace the radiator fan switch?...The fan still comes on and stays on all the time when ignition is on.

Its the big one on the coolant radiator.Turns off when key taken out,but as soon as ignition is on the fan is running.Running temperature rarely gets above 90 and takes at least 15 minutes to get there.

Just out of interest,is there a photo on this site of a 2.0 engine bay?
Not a complete dimwit, just learning about omegas.
Might help me find out what some of th parts are without asking.
