2.2 CDX Simtec 71 Code reader
« on: 15 June 2009, 10:49:27 »

Can anyone advise which Fault code reader will work on my 2.2 CDX (02 plate). i believe it has the Simtec 71 engine- Z22XE? . I have tried an OBD2 reader but it doesn't seem to work.

I am looking for a cheap reader to self diagnose the issues with my Omega.
Which one works?  Will the Draper Vaux/Opel reader work?
Thanks

I got myself a Sealey VS8700 EOBDII reader, got it cheap off eBay, works great on my 2.2. Works on MarkMV6's 3.2 and my neigbours Ford shitbox Focus :y

our 2.2 didnt work on generic readers either

used the old cheapo tech2 on it with no issues.

So guess the current versions of "My Naff Code Reader" would work as well.

Jim, I had trouble getting the Sealey to talk to the 2.2 in the start. I found it connects 99% of the time if the car is running as opposed to just ign. on.

Can't remember what this one was, was a friends, every which was was tried, it just wasnt having it at all.

Only ever tried the 1 generic device, real tech2's and vauxhall specific readers worked fine.
