Today I at last replaced the headlight sensor as the old one had life expired.  These are the bits:





The new one is of a changed design........... and price!!!   But here it is now in place:


You may note that even the plug is different, but they give you the new version and I have used connectors, covered in insulation tape, to splice it in.

The problem I now have is the warning "headlight/low beam" is still coming up on the MID when I started the car up to put it in the garage!!  Do you think please this warning will eventually cease, or is there another problem?? :-/ :-/ :-/

I think (assuming the sensor is fitted ok) the warning should stop immediately suggesting there is another issue...perhaps the headlight adjuster is broken??

Should go away Lizzie unless there's something else (headlamp servo motors?) - like your nice pink cloth though - did you get that from LK?

Looks like I'll have to check the connections!

I know the old sensor was faulty, with the magnetic arm dropping out, and everytime it did the warning came up!  So I will start  checking there before going on to the other checks you suggest. 8-) 8-) 8-)

I'll have you know Dbug that is my favourite greasy rag, as I like the mix of colours added to by oil and grease!!    I bet even LK has not got one as good as this! 8-) 8-)

hmmm 1st with a new style sensor (which doesnt look a good fit)
1st ,that replacing doesnt fix the issue.

It is fitted Jimbob using the integral bracket and all new linkage. So is there something I should look at there do you think? :-/ :-/

As for the wiring all new wiring connectors were used, which the insulation tape is hiding.  However it is possible I may have a faulty connection which I am going to check.

I did think of that Mark, but as I have no electric close at hand I decided to use connectors . But you are right, and I think I will remove the whole device from the car and bring back to my kitchen for soldering.  Thanks

Well GD it is of a new Vx design for the Omega, replacing the old style and costing over twice as much!!   It comes already fitted to the bracket that is of the same size as the old one. The linkage is also new, but once more of the same size as the old one. It all seems to fit fine. I think I  must, at this stage, check the wiring connectors and solder them instead.
