How to get Trade Cards
« on: 28 November 2007, 01:21:28 »

I see references to TC or trade cards, do I assume this is to get trade prices at Vauxhall Garages and therefore genuine parts.. or is this for some other trade outlet??

Could one of you let me know what these are... and how to get one - as I suspect I'll be needing several expensive parts in the next few weeks  :(

Thanks,

NICK

Trade Club cards, you can maybe get these from your Vauxhall parts desk, if you can blag one, I have failed miserably.

The easiest way, is join a VBOA affiliates car club, like Autobahnstormers, who for £20 a year give you a card.  Normally arrives within 3 days of application!

saves a bloody fortune on parts, highly recommended  :y

(as you assume, only valid at Vauxhall parts counter)

Only std service parts are on the Tradeclub scheme. Many dealers give you std trade price (higher than tradeclub price, but below retail) on non-tradeclub items, but this is down to the particular dealer.

ABS is the best way to get the card imho, unless you work in the trade (in which case, apply in person at your local dealer)

...as said above, but keep in mind that not all Vx dealers participate in Trade Club scheme, so make sure the dealer you approach does (ask their parts department).

I have my own tradeclub card - applied & got accepted :)

Get on well with the parts dept. at my local vx dealer - if its not on TC they will knock it down to trade cost for me (usually about 10 to 15% discount)

ABS is Autobahnstormers (http://www.autobahnstormers.co.uk), and is best place to get a tradecard if you are not in the trade.

There are 3 prices for genuine items from a dealer:
Full retail - joe public prices
Trade - price given to traders, cheaper than retail
Tradeclub - given to members of tradeclub, lower than trade prices. Not all parts have a tradeclub price though, generally only standard service parts.
