Strange noise at 2500 rpm
« on: 02 July 2009, 11:42:19 »

Driving my car last night, I started hearing a strange noise when I was accelerating through 2500 rpm, Investigation further today, It is under load only, there doesn't appear to be any lack of power, it does blow some black smoke accelerating through 2500 rpm (fairly hard) and again only under load.

I did a paper clip test 2 days ago and got the following fault codes..

1-9, 4-4, 4-9, 9-2 and 9-6

I know I need to re do them to see if anything new has come out,

The noise kind of sounds like a hissy growl under the engine...

Any ideas anyone?

you have

19   Incorrect RPM Signal
44      Incorrect Boost Pressure
92      Cruise Control Device Circuit Open Or Voltage High
96      Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) Valve Out Of Rang

19 poss leaving you at risk of breakdown, bad on v6, guess td the same, 92 is normal if you havent fitted cruise.

dunno on the others sorry

Well, I have found out what the noise was, The Exhaust Recirculation Metal pipe had cracked and now has broken completely.

The question I have is, do I really need to remove the turbo air intake hose and everything first, or can I work the hose in between the block and radiator???

Thanks.
