Little valve at back of head not working
« on: 26 August 2009, 12:16:07 »

While having some work done on the engine it was found that the small valve that is suppopsed to open when you hit the throttle doesnt open.
How would this effect throttle response or economy.
Any ideas how to fix it or trace what the problem might be.
The valve isnnt siezed.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

I thought its operation was dependent on engine speed & it controlled a flap between the two halves of the plenum at around 4000 rpm :-?.

I think there is another one on the aluminium lump in the plastic air rams behind the radiator.

The other thing it could be is the carbon filter recirculation valve.

Can you post a photo of it?

you are hitting the throttle hard enough to check, full on, fast....

should see it blip

as said, check all the vac pipes if it doesnt for starters.

The front valve works at about 2500 revs. Checked the pipes, all seem sound and in the right places.
Thanks for the replies
