as per the title, she has had the following...

O2 sensor bank 2, code 89 open circuit

Showing as not present a few times now, so guess it needs looking at.

Is there a common place for these to go?
Best place to start looking for the fault?  or is it replacement time?

I hate intermittant / not present, doesnt make fixing easy  >:(

Could be damp/dirty connections in the plug or (as I've had in the past) a dead/dying wire between the lambda and plug. When I had this on my Chavalier I found it easy once I'd removed the lambda and did a continuity test on each wire from the plug to the back of the lambda. One had no circuit but I could find a break, I tested up the wire and found where the dead spot was and soldered a new bit of wire in. Never happened again after that.

Got a couple of spare cats with )2 sensors fitted in the garage, want me to swap one over tomorrow night to see how it fairs?

I only fixed my intermittent code 89 by replacing the sensor.

sounds a bit throatier as well  :-/

Reset the block learn values so I can see if it behaves.

Whats the plan with the old parts?

I guess you change the lot rather than the sensor as it looks a bit delicate and may not move to well?

well running on a replacement cat and sensor....

and code 89 x2 are back

open circuit, and high voltage as well this time  :'(

any ideas?

(it is blowing a bit, which Ill sort when I can)

Blowing exhaust manifold or joint to downpipe then. Lets air in which confuses the O2 sensor.

Although an 89 really must be a faulty sensor?!
