What an amusing trip to work...
« on: 11 December 2007, 11:57:39 »

As you may well know from the General Help section, I have got NO heat inside my car other than 3 heated seats (mine isn't working obviously).

So I awoke to a white car that should have been blue. Time to get the scraper out. After I scraped the car, I got in...only to find that I needed to scrape the inside too. What fun.

10 mins later, my dash looked like a scene off a christmas card. I was going to take a photo, but my motorbike gloves that I have to wear in the car weren't designed for such fiddly actions and it was far too cold to take them off.

I then set off, only to stop 30 yards up the road to clear the inside of the windscreen again. My breath kept freezing on the windscreen. So, windows down, head out of the window, I could finally see where I was going. I felt a bit like a very cold Ace Ventura.

"I'm going to crash like this." I thought, so I stopped and defrosted the inside and outside again. I am now about 150 yards from my house...only another 49.5 miles to go. I switched all the heated seats on (including mine just in case it had decided to fix itself) to try and get some heat in to the car. After about 10 miles, my plan started to work and I didn't have to keep clearing the windscreen every 20 seconds.

I'm off to see Marks DTM Calib this evening for him to cast his all-knowing-eye over my mobile icicle. I SOOOOOOOOOOO hope that he finds the problem.

Wish me luck...

Sounds chilly. To my shock and dismay, my car had ice on it, for the first time this winter, this morning. Still, less than five minutes with the heater on and it was all cleared.  8-)

Hope Mark can fix things for you Paulus. He really is a very clever chap and if he can't fix it then maybe one of these may help:

Show-off. ;)

I have thought about one of those heater things, but how effective can such a small thing be in a large car?

I've just been out to the car, it's slowly defrosting in the winter sun. When I got in, the windscreen was still frozen, so I've turned to car round so that it is shining on the front now  :y.

I don't know how effective they are, but if it doesn't give off enough heat you could always try one of these:

We have heat........connector not on properly on the back of the climate panel.

Heater matrix is not flowing to well but, it might well clear as its not had flow throguh it for some time!

There are some interesting faults around the rpm signal to the instrument panel and a signal to the abs system....these are resulting in no rpm indication (gearbox reports correct rpm though) and TC being disabled.

I had this problem with my CDX,It was intermittant though and stopped the cruise control working.
Then just started working fine again,
Good news about havin' heat back.

It's GREAT to have heat again in the car. I can't thank Mark enough. Here are the error code still outstanding.

ABS - C0241 & C0161
Transmission - P1844.

When I left Marks, I hit the open road, put on cruise control and hit No2 on my seat (more reclined) and let the car take me home.

I am a VERY happy bunny. I'd give him a big kiss, but that would be a bit gay.  ;D
