idle consumption??
« on: 07 December 2009, 22:39:11 »

Well can anyone with 2.2 petrol post their idle consumption while the engine is at running temp.
I'm a bit corious.
Have some small problems with the mig, seems the car is a bit slow so I was thinking of clogged injectors.
Reading on the net it looks like clogged injectors raise consumption a little so just want to check
Also has anyone had their cleaned?
I heard all say injectors can be cleaned properly only by ultrasonic devices so was thinking of giving it a go

0.3 is correct.

Have you cleaned out the breathers and throttle body?

Yep breathers and throttle body are clean.
I guess two possible problem, either clogged injectors (fuel here is sh...) or cat is on its way out.

Hmm but 0.3 seems a bit high to me also cause mine on idle is 1.0 to 1.1 litre/hour

Try some Red-X or similar with the next few tanks of petrol.

1.0 is far too high.

Read somewhere that the car can be slower after having the head of and cambelt changed.
Mine was done couple of thousand miles ago.
They say that the phase could be setup wrong
Can anybody say is this correct?

Mine idles at 0.2g/hr rising occassionally to 0.3, but drops again to 0.2. It has never been lower than 0.2 or higher than 0.4 regardless of what ancilliaries I have on.HTH :y

There's no reason for any engine work to make the car slower unless it has been done incorrectly.

mine usually goes between 0.3 and 0.4 at idle with aircon off and 0.4 to occasionally 0.5 with aircon off. It used to run at 0.3 all the time when i first had it but think it changed slightly ofter LPG'ing it... :)
