Yes, you are dead right in saying that someone will come on.........
Fact is that is a requirement of the MOT to have the battery secured!
Quite apart from that the bolt is a standard 8mm setscrew, that is it is threaded from the head to the end. I reckon it is about 40-45mm long and goes through a metal bracket that locates on the side mouldings of the battery at its base.
The easiest way is to drill the bolt centre that is still visible as big as you dare without destroying any threads and then give it a good old soak in wd for a few hours. After that just drive a file tang or whatever elseyou can that is suitable into the hole and twist it clockwise until the snapped off bit goes completely through. It will be easier than trying to turn it out as though loosening it! Quick clean up of the threads with a tap and jobs done. Done it before so I know it works! Put a dose of grease on the new bolt to prevent this re-occurring.
