13mm bolt 2inch long standard thread.

Actually, its an M8 hex head bolt, 25mm (1") long..
Have me battery on charge this minute, and clamp is stood right next to me!!
Must admit, I put a bit of copperslip on the bolt before I put them back, (also do the wheel centre locking bolt) as it helps when you come to remove it at a later date.

Always a good move :y
I tend to use vaseline all over battery bolts and terminals.  Obviously, Loo-knee, I know you ran out of Vaseline, using it on Elite Pete....

Funny as I was going to say the same for You and Tunnie  ;D ;D ;D ;D
Tunnie only has eyes for JamesV6CDX, according to the photos I have after the Brackley cambelt meet  :-X

Ah the penny has dropped...... ::)

Thats why both Tunnie & James woke up with a sore bum  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Most kind Andy but I live in Skelmersdale so a fair way from Bury. Plus the fact that I've been unable to use my car since Monday due to the weather makes a trip a bit unfeasible. Thanks anyway.[/quote]

I changed my battery yesterday and the old one was not a GM one and was wedged in tight. When the new one went in I did notice it was a slightly loose in the compartment and didnt think nothing to it. After reading this went to my car and pushed the batt around and it does slide a bit!  :-?

I had a poke around (without removing the batt) and couldnt find the bolt but found this:

This it?

That`s the one mate. Once removed, the battery retaining clamp/plate is free. Fit battery, clamp/plate rests against lip at battery base, bolt it up, job done

cheers rob.

to get to that it looks like i have to remove the fuse box completely to move it out the way (one that sits on the + side). when i changed the batt, i had a helper hold it out of the way.  :D
