Been told my drive chain is dry

I ve been told my drive chain on 96 v6 cd is dry. I get a wering noise on start up which last for about 5minutes. I s this correct? If so how do I sort it.

Sounds like someone is pulling your chain!!!  ;) Cams are belt driven.
The sound could be the secondary air pump, which should run for a minute or so on start up, could also be a dry fan/auxillary belt tensioner bearing.

Agreed. Someone either doesn't know his @rse from his elbow or hasn't bothered to lift the bonnet before making a disgnosis. Either way one to be avoided in future!

Worth looking into in case it is a cam belt tensioner on the way out. Worth running it briefly with the aux. belt removed to eliminate that IMHO. Check the feel of the aux. belt tensioner bearing while you're at it, as said.
