I have read the guide on checking and topping up the level of the Automatic Gearbox but I cannot find any advice on how to change the oil.
Anyone any idea?

As per top up guide, but you need to drop both sumps to remove the oil ..... carefully! You'll only remove about half of the total ATF as the rest will stay in the torque converter.

How difficult is that to do because my bionic legs do not work as they should, they tend to get in the freekin way most of the time. I am limited to either sitting, standing up or lying down - aint no halfway point!
As my ATF oil is a brown colour I suppose I shall have to bite the bullet and do it then? What colour should it be?
Might even try a bit of a mod and see if I can put a drain plug into the sumps while they are off!

Brown isn't good  , it should be a nice red colour

Lovely, just what I thought.
Hey ho and away we go then!
Can the old oil be siphoned or pumped out somehow?
I have a drill operated pump and a 500cc syringe that I can convert to take a smaller bore suction tubes.

Cheers wellung666, I will bear that in mind but will have a go with my ideas first. If they work I shall probably post a how to.
I cannot see why it should not be possible to 'suck' it out with a bit of caution taken.
Freekin design bleeders should have put a sump plug in anyway.

if you can lye dwn its not to hard a job. as said both sumps off. and you need about 7ltr to refill. and then run it up just go thro the gears 1 at a time then undo fill plug "with engine running then top up till it runs out off fill hole"

i want to change my autobox oil (mileage 71K) purely for piece of mind and to make me feel better but i havnt come across any info yet on how to empty ALL the old oil out,so how do you drain the torque convertor as well?

Be thankful that your engine has a sump drain plug, SWMBO's Smart doesn't have one!
