No Speedo, ABS, TC or Crusie Control
« on: 20 January 2010, 10:29:50 »

Hi I’m a new member and I just bought a 1998 Omega GL 2.5 Estate.

I got it really cheap because neither the speedo, ABS, TC or the Crusie Control is working at the moment.
After searching this forum my first thought was that the ABS ECU had given up, but now I’m not sure anymore, because none of the warning light is on (ABS, TC).
Everything else in the dash is working, petrol, temp and rev counter.

If I press the TC button nothing happens….

Any ideas, before I start ordering spare parts…..

Does sound like the ABS ecu is knackered. TC only lights up when switched off. Does the ABS illuminate when ignition switched on., if not bulbs have probably been removed. Ecu can be refurbed for about £120/140. Or source one from same spec model. i.e. engine/gearbox. Failing that I believe you can use any ABS Ecu but it would need to be re-set with a Tech II. Not 100% certain though

ABS ECU knackered mate.  If going 2nd hand route you need one from exactly same model and approx same year to avoid need for Tech2 work.  Helpfully the part nº is on the bottom of the ecu!!

I got home from work and checked the warning lights in the dash, and you’re right, the bulbs were gone. The seller claimed to have no knowledge about this….yea right…

Checked the broker and found an ABS ECU from a 1997 Omega with the same engine and gearbox. Only £97 including freight.

Thank you all for the inputs and help!

Cheers
