Hello, I start have a big problem with my omega.This is my car  I bought it from MarkeyMark http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1249844216
About month ago she start lostin her coolant.After I go to the work(about 10miles) coolant tank is empty.Is no licking under the car, and when i check oil yesterday was nothing on dip stick.Under oil cap is white-brown cream,and looks like some oil is in the coolant tank.Head gasket gone??Car has 182200 miles.Just pass MOT in January(I spent 350pounds) plus taxed for 6 month.
Iam very no happy, because I spent a lot money on her, is becoming to expenive for me and I start thinking to swap for something cheaper to run and insure(current I paying 130pounds a month + around 150 on fuel).
But i very very like that car sorry for my crap english

I would suspect the head gasket, but to lose that amount of coolant and oil i would expect the engine would be chucking out a lot of vapour or smoke ?   :-?

check and see if some one is nicking the oil and water,
check the drain plug  on oil and water plug tap, if no gray smoke,

Hm. Just looked at the miles that it was sold with 177K on it and now has 188K in a few months.
You say you do 10 miles to work, probably another 10 back making 140 a week if you work 7 days yet you have managed to do 1100 in a little over a month?
The motto of this story has to be that any buyer should first look at the history of the seller. markey mark was banned from OOF because of his persistent reneging on deals. Looks like you have been another of his victims.
I would get back to markeymark because you must know where he lives to see what he has to say about it.
Try to contact markey mark to see what he has to say.
Until then I would suggest that you have someone experienced with Migs to have a looky at it. There are a few really good experienced oofers who will travel to you or meet you at some location of choice. Darth-Loo-Knee may know of one nearer to you if you PM him.
Next time you buy a car take someone with the knowledge with you, even if you have to pay them it is money well invested.
End of the day if it was sold as seen you cannot even complain to the Trading Standards office.

Car has 182k miles, and coolant loss started a month ago, this car was bought in Aug '09 

henryqwerty - You need to do a compression test, also give the heater tank a sniff, can you smell petrol?

Also check the HBV (heater by-pass valve) its at the rear of the engine, and shunts water in to the heater matrix / engine block, this can fail, its worth checking that for any leaks

Given the rarity of the actual occurence ... just why do so many folks and garages automatically assume "head gasket failure" as the first possibility

Numerous other, far cheaper, possibilities exist !!

Markeymark has not been banned in Aug 09.And he has about 6600 post on OOF so I think he was a trust man to buy car from.I dont think is Mark faul, the car is high millage I should expect something like this will happen.

HBV changed in November for original vauxhalls, I dont see any leaks from him

Sounds like oil cooler.  The pressure in the coolant curcuit would blow it out through the filler cap.  Easier job than the head gasket and you'd be a fool not to discount this beofre going through with HG replacement.

mayo on cap is normal esp in winter, double esp with short journeys.

oil in header tank points at oil cooler.

coolant loss can be due to above, with extra pressure, or could be an unrelated hbv etc.....possiblely being a bit quick to condemn here...

No-one is banned from oof unless there is a very good or repetitive reason for it. It does not matter how many post points oofers have, it does not mean that they are experts or know all there is to know. The post points indicate how regularly they visit the site and post a comment. All oofers do is try their best to advise from their own experiences.  Some, such as Darth-Loo-Knee and his cronies really do know their stuff and their advice can be trusted. Whether or not any advice is taken is very much the decision of the asker. Do not take this out of context.  Point is this, some very basic precautions should have been made before you parted with any cash.
Never buy an car unless you either know what you are looking for and have the necessary knowledge to inspect it thoroughly. Always take someone with you that is knowledgable and who can then also act as a witness to any statements that are made at the time of sale. Make notes and take pics, they all come in handy at some point.
As for you problem, all you can do now is to start from scratch and inspect and test everything in order logical sequence. Do not jump straight to the head gasket which always seems to get the blame, because there are many other things that it could be that will not be anything like as expensive to put right.
Patience is a virtue, posses it when you can - as the saying goes!
As before - try to get in touch with markey mark and see what he has to say. You may get a surprise.

Oil in the water expansion bottle would indicate a faulty oil cooler. You say you checked the oil level yesterday and there was nothing on the dipstick, when did you previously check the level?
