leaky injector on TD
« on: 09 February 2010, 17:37:38 »

for the last few weeks ive been smelling a strong smell of diesel, ive had a look today & found diesel running down the sump & dripping onto the floor, it seems like the no3 injector is weeping, is it just a matter of tightening or something more sinister as i know no3 is the one with a chip in it, i believe a special socket is required which i dont have, any help would be appreciated. :y  oh & the little rubber pipes look o,k.

That's no4 I believe. Try nipping it up first see if it seals.

you might need to replace the leakoff pipes if you start the engine and shine a torch on it you should see it easy fix or nip up the nut its a 17mm spanner.

I rekon its more likely to be the leak off pipes than the injector.  If the injector is leaking, then you will see a pool of diesel at the bottom of the injector with bubbles of air escaping from around the thread.

Should be leak-off pipes or the injector pipe.

I've got a length of leak off here if you need a bit to try Should be enough to replace the sections between all 6 injectors but there isn't enough to go back to the pump as well.

I was thinking Royal Fail rather than a visit  ::) Different to vacuum hose as it needs a certain chemical resistance with carrying diesel ;)
