Mig non start
« on: 10 February 2010, 11:57:21 »

No. 2 mig (3L mini f/l elite) wouldn't start this morning.  Turned over fine but not a hint of firing.
It was running fine yesterday according to mrs ians.

I will do the paperclip test later, but anyone care to place a bet...?

I have never had a crankshaft sensor go on any of the 4 migs I've owned - maybe I'm overdue :-X

Was the immobiliser light flashing or extinguished?

Have a look at the maintenence guides, there is a method for extracting the engine ecu fault codes using a bent paperclip.

My money is on crank sensor so be ready for a 19....

yep plenty of love potion,  but I wouldn't rule out silly user error.  Mrs has left it in D before which I think disables starting.

Well paperclip test done and only getting a 31 - no surprise as its not running.

Its got almost a full tank of fuel.

Any ideas where to look next?   Could it still be crank sensor even if no code 19?

Cheers,
Ian

Yes. Happened to me when I had a 1994 2.5 V6. Just 31, no 19.

With a faulty sensor the ECU light stayed lit when the engine was cranking. With a new sensor it extinguished immediately.
