I'll put you out of your  misery - it was a broken earth   :y

How a "garage"  can misdiagnose this as no compression is beyond  me

Having cleaned and re-attached engine earth, she fired up lovely :D

Well I can only assume it was an  earth problem - as it the connections were visibly non existant! Soon as I sorted that, she started - so unlikely to be a co-incidence!

The no compression is 'dangle berries' regardless, though!  :y

Bloody hell Jonnycool, I hope you haven't paid good hard earned money for that 'diagnosis'? If you have, you should hotfoot (hotomega) it down to said garage & demand it back pronto. Threaten them with Trading Standards if necessary!  :y
