Rusty bores

Just had a proper look at the engine in the car before attempting to put the heads back on and there is some light surface rust in the bores :( :(

Will this be a major problem? Should I rub it off with some fine emery paper or just leave it?

I'd use a bit of wet & dry

It'll be fine mate, should in fact wipe off, if not, very fine wet and dry  :y

I would say try to rub it off with a scotchpad soaked in paraffin / WD40 etc. first. Don't really want to get grit from an abrasive paper in it now it's cleaned up and being reassembled.

Yeh, wipe it over with a green pan scourer.

Wouldn't recomment wet 'n dry on engine in situ - difficult to remove all abrasive material!

As said use a scotchpad (or as Mark suggested a green pan scourer) soaked in paraffin or WD40.

hi m8 i had same problem i used very smooth wet and dry i also used a bit of light oil to rub around and everything is good  :y
